More AWesome photography websites!

I like this website because the main page uses frames that look like photographs like my website.
http://www.jessicahilltout.com/index2.php

Again I like this because the boarder of the main box on the homepage looks like the frame of a photo. And its got some sweet photoshopping.

I like the slide show on this website and yet again it has a slightly photo like boarder around it.

pointless neon signs!

I was walking by the hard rock cafe this morning noticed there sign outside that said something along the lines of 'no drugs or nuclear weapons on the premises' And it just annoyed me. There trying to make serious point about having drugs on the premises and then put in nuclear weapons to make it more fun and not seem strict. Its such a contraction. They just want to have the idea of drugs associated with the cafe to make it seem sexy and rock and roll. Yet its a serious point.

He's favourite colour is blue and he likes to watch action films.
He is not a fan of burned toast or people who skip him in queues.

Funny Concept Photos

Stumble Upon is a website that I use a lot and while searching it I found this awesome website, 'What Stormtroopers do on there day off'.

It Reminded me of some of the photos I took in my portfolio for a project which involved a day in the live of a student and a pair of legs. It got me thinking of the sort of photos I could use if i were going to do a photography website.

NOTCOT.com

I like the doodle style drawings down the each side of the page (which are also links). I think the drawings are supposed to be of tags or labels because the website has a lot about design on it. But I think they look more like Polaroid photo. This got me thinking because I was thinking of doing maybe a photo website and the image of a Polaroid photo as a link could be good.

Moving Lights!

Recently I was at a stand up gig and it was a little crazy ye know there was all these flashing lights and shit. And eventually I got bored waiting so I took out my camera and took some fun photos.

I really liked the lines the light makes so I experimented some more only with street lamps at night time. The street lights are brighter so i kinda got more of an atmospheric look plus it was raining :O which gave the photos nice splashes and stuffs.

I have been searching around online for more inspiration and found some more awesome photos such as the 'light Graffiti' which I find really interesting. I particularly like the pac man ones, I founD on this website

Happy post of the DAY

It made me happy when I found this:)

Liberal Iguana

Wondering where I got the name for my blog?

This video should explain all....well kinda....

ConFused? me toooo.........

People And Identity

There are many ways in which people identify themselves. One way in which people do this that I find interesting is through tattooing.

Somethings I wonder if people really think about the way tribes use tattooing to show what tribe they are in and their rank etc. When I see someone say from this culture with a tribal tattoo I often wonder if they really, understand what their tattoo means and what do people in tribes think of this 'trend' as such, because in a way these people are kinda stealing the tribes identity. Often people in tribes get tattoos after something they've done and I wonder if they knew people were just walking around with similar tattoos after not having done anything, would they be offended in some way and feel like it took away from the tattoos meaning.

Websites Identity

What gives a website its identity. People have say passports etc to identify themselves so what is a websites passport as such?

I think at the moment a lot of the social networking sites have 'passports' for example tweeter and facebook have icons that anyone using the Internet will recognise.

These websites have their icons on many other sites connecting them etc which is also like advertising in a way. Someone with no interest in social networking sites or be a member of one, will still see these icons on other website and recognise them.

I think this is an awesome way to have a successful website. It show that the look and the theme of the website is just as important as the content. The content could be amazing but if it isn't layed out well or have an attractive look people won't be interested and no one will ever know about the website.

IDENTITY

I thought for my first post on the theme of identity I would look at artists who are easily recognised by either their art work or their look. So I'm going to look at Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali respectively.

Andy Warhol's prints are easily identifiable by almost anyone even people with little or no interest in art. He picked products from company's with well established identities. This I guess also took the elitism away from art and made people who ordinarily wouldn't look at art look at art.

I think although Warhol's work is easily identifiable he found it much harder to identify himself. Even going so far as to dress in drag. I feel in a lot of his self portraits he creates a feeling of mysterious artistness.

I like the image Salvador Dali created for himself. His moustache I feel gives him that crazy artist look. Which I think maybe he grew because he expects that people will expect him to look like because of the nature of his art work. I think his eyes have that crazy surreal cartoon look to them and that he plays this up in a lot of photos of himself. Sometimes I think it would have been far more surreal if he had looked really ordinary and slightly boring and then maybe people would have been surprised to see the work he created. But that's just me. I guess with out his 'look' he probably wouldn't have got the commercial success that he got.

Who's ta say making tea isn't a fun art form!

Recently well since I started this blog I have been thinking about my lack of English grammar, spelling and knowledge...
Which is why I like art, It can be what ever you want it to be!
Although I don't always enjoy people over academicising the arts, they should be free and what ever you want them to be. Do what YOU want, make it what YOU want it to be.

not sure...

People have told me I live in my own little world...or bubble. A world which is green but not in an environmental sense, just the colour green. One where one must always drink tea and eat cheese. One must sing songs in there head *cabrom cabrom if only you knew, I'm just like you* for lack of mp3 player chargers. Urg! No one works in an office, people barter (or steal, no wait that's immoral but whatever). Day is night and night is day. The main languese is gnomise... well you see where I'm going with this....Anyway I just wrote this cause I was thinking of those moments of realisation one gets when they realise how out of touch they've become with the rest of the world and how easily it happens. One minute you think you know who all the 'cool bands' are and the next you realise they were 'cool' 3 months ago and you haven't even realised 3 months have gone by.......one minute I'm writing blog post next thing its 6 months since I've wrote anything. I miss writing for leisure...........yup

Americanise?

Yam - I heard this word for the first time not long ago. I think to myself Yam, what is this yam I hear speak of? And as it turns out yam is just an american word for what we Irish call a sweat potatoe. Yet the word yam stuck in my head and got me thinking.

In the supermarket I picked up one of these yams and examined it. My friend turned to me as I did this and said to me ' ha ha they have balls' and I laughed she wasn't wrong. I now became intrigued. I looked a little closer and noticed these yams have a harsh outter layer like a potatoes as the name suggests, but they are a lot softer. Later as I was pealing this yam I noticed it was infact much softer and much nicer to peal then harsh potatoes that grow in my land. Although they aren't as juicy...alas it does not matter because they are sweet.

As I was pealing this yam my mind begain to wonder as to where these yams came from, so I decided to ask him. I said 'Hello Mr Yam where do u come from?' But of course he is just a yam he could not answer. So my mind begain to wonder again and I pictured a sunny island in the middle of the sea with just one palm tree on it and this yam was sitting in a sun lounger beneath the tree, sipping a cocktail. I think prehaps the sun had gone to my head because it was one of those rare sunny days in Ireland. Later that day when the sun went down I did some reasearch and found that alot yams are grown in africa so my daydreams maybe where slighly off....
Anyway if you feel like a sweet flavoured genitille shaped vegtable (there are many) why not try a yam.

Dissolvable Disprin...

...and the problems with it.
Last week I had the worst head ache in centuries. I couldn't eat it was so bad mind you I was trying to eat crisps, chrunchy buggers they are. So, after about 3 hours I decided to take a disprin. I'm usually of the 'if I wait long enough my head ache will go away' school but at this point I felt I had a tiny chipmonk playing the drums badly inside my skull. Anyway in my pain all I could find was dissolvable disprin. I then had to find a glass and water which ment I had to switch on the light, ouch that really didn't help. But I struggled on, I dropped the disprin into the glass to let is dissolve and then started drinking it.
At this point I started to cheer up abit and found my way in to a dark room with a tv even if I could not quite mange to change the channel. When out of nowhere i started choking. Dissolvable my ass,all the particles in the disprin had just settled at the bottom of the glass. WHAT IS THE POINT. So, at this point I'm setting in a dark room, choking , watching some guy singing through his ass on the t.v (I have some recollection of it been britains got talentless people or something like that) and still with a head ache.
Not how I picture my friday nights! To conclude not only do dissolvable disprin cause you to choke, they don't get rid of your head (I still had mine 3hours later) About half hour later I pass out from the pain and wake up the next in bed still dressed with masscare down my face - all because of dissolvable disprin.

My Language

As you read my blog you may notice, that I have my own style of grammar and I can’t spell good. I like to think I have my own little language. Which I understand, people who understand me understand. This sometimes angers people, perhaps because they don’t understand? But I don’t know any other way.’ Me fail English thats umpossible’ in the word of Ralph Wigam. In my head (la la land) my English is perfect and everyones else is umperfect.

So no I do not apologise now for all the grammatical and spelling errors I am about to unleash. Soon you will all be speaking Gnomise (and no the g in no longer silent.)In my mind free speech means the freedom to use speech the way I want and this in my mind justifies Gnomise.

First post.

I’ve recently had really bad luck and don’t know whether the stars have changed or karma is out to get me and I just have to ride it out. If I change my attitude will that change my luck?

Dam it I would write about my bad luck here but then it would be here for me to remember. So I’m going to try change my luck! I think first and foremost I need to be more assertive, no wait my ass is big enough as it is. But anyway another more positive reason I decided to start my blog is because my da all ways says I should keep a diary so when I’m old and gray, I can look back in anger. And now days blogs are like diarys modern times and all that jazz.

Anyway i will use this blog to put all the millions of random thoughts and incidents of my life before I forget them, as I am most forgettable. So, here are my thoughts as I think them.
